Are You Looking Forward to Celebrating Your Marriage in Mallorca? Congratulations!
Many people come to Mallorca to get married. However, non-residents who do not live in Spain are not allowed to marry in a civil ceremony. Therefore many couples decide to have the civil wedding in their country of origin or residence, and hold a second, religious or symbolic (also known as a wedding blessing), ceremony in Spain.
Ideally it should be once you have chosen your gown and the bridesmaids’ dresses. There are no set rules for timing, as all weddings are different, but preferably you should leave at least a couple of months before the day, to make sure everything is planned to perfection and ready in good time.
2015 was our first year attending the Momad Wedding Show in Madrid. We found it extremely beneficial, and although we were not blown away, there were still enough good elements to make the trip worthwhile. The event is a must attend wedding show for wedding couples, wedding consultants, wedding planners, and wedding professionals. Reception venues, photographers, make-up and beauty care products, catering services, wedding cars, decor ideas, and bridal registry and bridal wear were showcased by the exhibitors in this show.
You’ll want your cake, favours and cookies to look divine, so book a tasting session with your cake maker to ensure they taste as good as they look.
Having a candy cart or sweets trolley at your reception is right on trend but why not take it a step further and have a desserts table? Display plates of cupcakes, bowls of Bon Bons and jars of tasty biscuits to tempt your guests. Keep to your wedding day colour by making everything on the table shades of one colour. Or, if you adore all things bright then pick a zingy colour like lemon drop yellow or apple red or mix up the colours!
B’s lifelong dream of getting married finally came true last September, when he and his fiancé F. exchanged vows by the Mediterranean Sea in an intimate sea view ceremony. When he and F. decided to tie the knot, they felt strongly that an intimate setting would be best for their wedding day. The 17th century rural hotel provided the couple with the perfect venue for their celebration and its private terraces served as the ideal backdrop for a romantic photo session.
They ended the day with a romantic dinner accompanied by champagne – a beautiful and fitting end to the perfect day!
You’ll want to say a personal and sincere thank you to everyone who has come to your wedding and generously given you a gift. And a written thank you is expected even if you said thanks in person at the wedding.
Writing out a hundred plus thank-you cards is time consuming and it’s a job that both you and your partner should tackle together. The easiest way for you to thank your friends and family and for him/her to do the same. Split joint friends between both of you.
The Mediterranean culture has had a profound impact on the world in the form of cuisine, music and, of course, décor.
From characteristic olive trees and leaves and patio furniture, to popular stucco walls and terracotta flooring – the Mediterranean influence is everywhere. One thing to keep in mind is that Mediterranean people are especially attentive to their outdoor spaces. Because most of the region experiences warm and sunny weather, people spend a lot of time outside. Native pottery, sheer curtains, plush comfortable pillows and plenty of outdoor seating are all important when adding a Mediterranean style to your wedding. The other day we found this Mediterranean inspired wedding shoot at Style Me Pretty. Seems like the perfect inspiration for a pretty Mediterranean wedding in Mallorca. Love the rosemary and olive branch combination.
One of the most challenging parts of planning your wedding can be venue selection.
When considering a wedding in Mallorca some people opt for traditional fincas in the countryside, while others prefer boutique hotels with sea view, stylish restaurants or casual beach clubs.
Whatever you decide, the wedding venue will really set the tone for your wedding.
If you are looking for a finca wedding in Mallorca, here is one of our favourites.
This peaceful and quiet location, set in the heart of Mallorca, is an old finca from the 18th century, with older settlements that date back to the Arabic period. It offers several refurbished and independent bungalows for a total of 26 people, has a swimming pool, and private paths along the forest and mountains to do some trekking. The house is perfect for small or middle-size events for up to 120 guests. It is also perfect for ‘retreats’ for businesses or yoga and alternative therapy groups looking for privacy and peace.
Want your wedding favours to be pretty and practical? Instead of sending your guests home with trinkets that are likely to sit around collecting dust, give them a treat they won’t be able to resist digging into.
We found this infographic below to be very useful. Feel free to take ideas and inspiration from it!

Here’s our guide to organising a stress-free destination wedding:
Should the bride and groom (or their parents) pay for the wedding or should guests expect to have to pay for their own way?
It really depends on your budget but usually the bride and groom would pay for the wedding reception for all their guests (just like at home) and, according to tradition, hotel rooms for the bridesmaid(s), the groomsmen and travel expenses for any VIPs, such as grandparents who might not make it to the wedding otherwise. It’s a good idea to arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel, as well as to and from any ceremony and reception venues if they are different. Guests should expect to pay their own travel and accommodation costs, so before booking your destination wedding make sure you have a clear idea who can and can’t afford to come.
There is lots happening in our island! Check out the events taking place in Mallorca next month.

Your first dance is a magical and memorable moment, and all eyes will be on you, so what will you choose!
The first dance song is the most memorable one of any wedding. Couples can spend months deciding on the perfect tune but it shouldn’t become a stressful matter and ought to be very personal to the bride and groom.
Traditionally, the married couple performed the first dance to open up the dancing for their guests. In days gone by, this was usually a waltz, but these days any style of dance goes.
Before stepping into any groomswear store it helps to have a strong idea of what you want from your suit. Many shops will offer similar looking styles, particularly in the more traditional suits. Having an idea of the type of colour, cut and fit you expect will not only save time, but will help differentiate between a suit that looks good and that one special suit for your special day.
Before choosing your wedding suit always ask your partner’s opinion as they may have a style and colour theme in mind!

People who are lookinf for a peaceful life, in a serene rural environment fall in love with fincas in Mallorca. They are historic, unusual and are brimming with character. Many of the fincas found across Mallorca are up to 300 years old, but have been fully renovated to offer modern comforts in a rustic setting.

Elie Saab has just presented another wonderful collection: Palais des Lumières for autumn/winter 2014.
This time, the designer features chandeliers that reflect the colour palette of the dresses: shades of blue, pink / red, blush, black, white, and grey. The dresses are not that unusual in their design; but they are beautiful, as always and they are perfect for weddings, special events, premieres or for when you just want to look like a Hollywood star.
The bridegroom usually speaks after the bride’s father, who almost always concludes with a toast to the bride and bridegroom.
You reply, on behalt of your wife and yourself. There is no set length of time for you to speak and no hard and fast rules of what to say. Do not be afraid to be brief, that is often preferred by an audience. If gifts are to be given out it is usually best to present them as you mention the recipient, so the speech continues to flow well. The bridegroom traditionally finishes by proposing a toast to the bridesmaids but you may think another toast is more appropriate… such as to your lovely wife!
A good hairdresser will do everything in their power to make your wedding day special!
Don’t delay thinking about what to do with your hair until the last minute. It’s worth booking a professional; that way you can sit back and relax with a glass of bubby while they do all the hard work. Here are some top tips for booking your hairdresser and other beauty treatments for the big day.
Searching for the perfect dress? First define your shape
Every bride wants to look fabulous on her wedding day and the best way to see what is right for you is to make appointments at bridal shops and try on a variety of dresses you like. Keep an open mind and take the advice of the experts in the shop as they are well practised at knowing what suits brides of all shapes and sizes.
The pear-shaped bride is smaller on top than the bottom with hips wider than her shoulders. Princess dresses will help disguise fuller hips and emphasise your better half, balancing you out. Strapless ballgowns also work well in this regard and empire line dresses highlight the smallest part of your body.
Avoid: Tiered, trumpet and mermaid dresses which draw attention to your bottom. Sheath dresses are another no-no.

Menorca, the little sister of Mallorca, awakes in Es Castell.
The most easterly part of the island is an ideal vantage point to watch the sunrise. In fact, it is the first place in all of Spain where dawn breaks. Once the first rays of sunshine arrive, it becomes clear that the British influence still fills the towns pores. Es Castell doesn’t hide its past. Saint George’s horse continues to appear on its crest back from the day when the municipality was called Georgetown, in honor of King George III.
